Sarcoptic Mange

21/10/2005Chance before20/01/2006After treatment

Chance was rescued in July of 2003. Before I knew better I allowed him to receive a rabies "booster" one year later. He started showing signs of chronic illness, so after I learned more about the correct way to feed and care for a dog he began homeopathic treatment. Shortly after beginning he developed some hot spots. This is not at all unusual in homeopathy. The body heals itself from "top to bottom, from within to without", so symptoms showing up on the skin are quite normal and not usually a cause for concern. So, when he started showing skin symptoms again several months later the homeopath believed that it was a layer of his chromic condition. In the end it turned out to be an entirely new problem. When the old remedy did nothing to alleviate the symptoms a new remedy was given, which provided immediate relief, and ultimately a total cure. He received nothing at all for the condition (most likely sarcoptic mange caught from a foster dog) other than the homeopathic remedy.

As an interesting side note-while he was suffering with the mange his chronic symptoms went away completely. After his skin cleared up the chronic symptoms returned (although not as bad as when he began treatment), so those were once again addressed by the homeopath. Chance is getting healthier and healthier every day.
